The Shoe Girl Styles It: River Island LE Pom Pom Sandals
I really struggled with TSGSI this week and in particular, my plus size look. I was seriously stressing about it, because the more I tried, the more jumbled, confused and irritated I and it, became. For 3 days!! I suppose I was looking to a degree for something specific (which made it harder) and I was berating the lack of choice in plus size. Yes it's come a long way, but there's still heaps of room for improvement. Today though, it just fell into place (well with some serious groundwork beforehand) and I'm genuinely pleased with it. I'm only posting late because my nephews have been here all day and are staying overnight, so I've had no time (watching Minecraft on YouTube instead, serious snooze-fest but it kept them amused). Anyway, the outfit is cool and sassy, which was the exact aim. You should get to choose how you feel and be able to express that through clothing, no matter your size and this was the stumbling block, because you simply don't have the options that mainstream sizing have. Everything felt frumpy and didn't have that edge, so I was ecstatic when the mission was complete!
First up, the shoes; River Island Limited Edition pom pom sandals £75. Mixing snakeskin with black and zebra print ponyskin, finished with the most fabulous looking fluffy pom poms. These shoes need a suitably fierce outfit, so I would wear them with this pleated PU skirt from Simply Be and a simple black knit from David Emanuel at Bonmarche. There's a little detail at the neck, to stop it from becoming too plain and that's picked up by the beaded, sequin bag from ASOS. The colours in that, mirror the trim on the sandals too. So black doesn't have to be boring and plus size can be cool, but let's hope next week is easier on me! What do you think?
Worn with: David Emanuel at Bonmarche jewel trim jumper £24, Simply Be PU pleated midi skirt £49 and ASOS mini sequin fringe duffle bag £35.

DeleteThis is a really cool outfit!!!! Sorry it gave you such issues!!x
ReplyDeleteThank you, I'm just glad it paid off in the end as it was exactly the type of thing I wanted but struggled to find.
DeleteAnd I've just wasted half an hour reading every instagram post you've ever done! SO cool!x
ReplyDeleteCan I get instagram without a phone? I'd like to comment but I have a dinosaur phone!X
Brilliant! Yes you can! My phone doesn't do Instagram either, so I use Instapic which is a free app from Microsoft. You need Windows 8 or newer (hence why I didn't previously have it as my old PC was 7, but my laptop now has the new Windows 10 on it). You can then upload photos from your PC (mine are either uploaded from my phone or camera) and you can follow, comment etc like any other user. It can be a little glitchy at times, but it's pretty good considering it's free and doesn't involve a fancy phone! Sometimes I log into the real Instagram for things as it's easier, but otherwise I use Instapic and that's the only way you can upload photos, but they go onto Instagram as normal, as you create the one account.
