Day 930 - Don't Wish Too Hard, Because They May Come True

I have no idea which day this outfit was from last week, but here it is. I think I've only worn this dress once despite owning it for some time. That's down to it being a little tight (not any longer) rather than me not liking it. I have this image in my head, that I had blonde hair last time I wore it (bleached and ready to colour), but I love it with my hair colour right now. They look perfect together. I almost grabbed my ASOS tapestry Ablaze boots to wear with it until I realised I'd be wearing the same shoes two days running! I saw these open toe boots still sitting out from when I last wore them and decided they would work too. It was actually reasonably warm, so they were a better choice than the other boots anyway.  Oh and I did something different with the full length image today, what do you think? Better?

Day 923 - Life's Too Short To Be Sittin' Round Miserable

After bold makeup the day before, I was keen for a fresh, natural look yesterday. For once, I loved everything about this outfit and the hair and makeup. Clothes wise, I'm really trying to wear those items that are full-on summer before it gets any cooler. I think my bare legged days are numbered! Well we have The X-Factor starting this weekend, so that's the countdown to Christmas starting isn't it? Back to my shoes and I knew these would rub the backs of my legs wearing them without socks/tights/leggings, but I love the look of pairing a pretty, girly dress with boots. These have to be one of my all-time favourite pairs of shoes and I sooo called it, way back when, that the lady that designed these would go onto big things. They were part of the design forum collection (designed by fashion students) for River Island and the designer in question was none other than Sophia Webster. She worked under Nicholas Kirkwood until the launch of her own label, which I'm lucky enough to own a pair of (and they are super fabulous I might add). I adore these and would never sell them, I think they sum up my style quite well.

Day 723 - The More You Talk, The Less I Can Take

Sorry for the late post, I was absolutely whacked after my dentist appointment yesterday. It was my final day!! I just have to go back in 2 months and see if what she's done has worked or not (here's hoping) but it'll be so nice to have my days free now! It was quite painful yesterday but I didn't want another injection like the week before, as I could barely open my mouth for a couple of days and it took ages to wear off so I just got through it with the two injections this time and distracting myself by thinking of shoes when it really hurt! Anyway, lots to say about this outfit, every hourglass lady should go out and buy this dress, it's utterly gorgeous! They also do it in grey leopard print which I prefer, but I had to return the 18's I bought (just too tummy revealing) and they only had a 20 in the black. I'm not keen on the exposed back zip but it's not a deal breaker as I don't see it personally! It's a nice heavy-weight jersey that seems to pull you in and make you feel totally Mad Men-ish! I wanted to do my own thing with it and add these ankle boots, rather than go down the standard pencil skirt and peep toes route, plus it was perfect for the mixed weather. Now onto the bag and I was rather disappointed that we never found a bag like this in my Granny's house after she died. I told anyone who would listen that any vintage frame bag to be found was mine, but we only discovered modern ones. I was convinced she'd previously given me a couple of bags when she was alive but had no idea where they were. Last month when we were tidying the shed and going through a lot of my Uni stuff, we found three handbags exactly like I'd wanted (one brown, one navy and this black one). Then my Mum told me that she'd actually bought this bag for her Mum who died not long afterwards (before I was born) and as my Mum didn't use bags like this, she gave it to her mother-in-law and then eventually Granny gave it to me. So it's been full circle and is around 36 years old (even older than me) and it turns out it was in my possession all along!

Day 606 - Starships Were Meant To Fly

Hello, what a lovely start to the week, bright sunshine and really warm!  I did do my nails last night and although I took delivery of 3 new pairs of Irregular Choice shoes/boots today, they were all closed toes and it seemed a waste to cover up my pedi which took hours!  Nail wraps may have no drying time, but boy do they take long to apply.  Hopefully this will stay on for weeks though, so it's worth it.  Fyi, they are Fearne Cotton leopard print ones that my sister got me for Christmas.  Oh and I ordered hair dye today, well excited to try out something new.

Day 506 - Wrap Around

A little later than usual today and I apologise for not managing to post anything yesterday. My parents are off on their first cruise and so my my sister and nephews popped round to see them yesterday and I just didn't get a chance to go out. My nephews are absolutely hilarious, I was in stitches at the things they were saying and doing. The middle one has inherited my temper and he was so funny, huffing and crying because he did something wrong on his DS game. He's three! The eldest is going on 15, suuuch an attitude, but in a comic way which I appreciate (I swear he does it to see if he can wind me up). I can't believe a 4 year old can have such sarcasm in the tone of his voice! Not really sure what my hair is doing today, it's haaaauge. These shoes are absolute ankle breakers, although I found you can walk quite rapidly so long as you take lots of small steps...trade secret there ; ) Oh and I did a 'Sienna/Stella/Whoever else' and wore the straps over my leggings...fashionista that I am, darlings! Oh (again) I found the perfect, most excellent camera today, half price too, then realised it needs batteries and I prefer one I can recharge...the hunt goes on and the crappy phone photos continue!

Fit: True to size, adjustable buckle. 5 1/2" heel and no platform, let's all say 'ouch'!
Comfort: I suspect prolonged periods would be agony with that heel but there's no issues of rubbing or anything else with them.

Day Four Hundred & Sixty Three - Did You Really?

This is an old outfit that I never got the chance to blog about a couple of months ago. I can vaguely remember this day, I went shopping by myself and so my outfit was based around comfy items in my wardrobe. This dress had been new at the time, I love the flower-pot print, but your hips look a few inches bigger, as there's just so much fabric (and two layers of it) in the skirt section that it adds bulk. Personally, I'm not too bothered by that, I like a full skirt and couldn't really care if someone thinks my butt is bigger than it is! I'd say it definitely needs a belt and I swapped the tie one it came with for this 'real' one. The 'shop' photos were sneakily taken in Primark, where I had a nightmare of a time, because I grabbed the first changing room I saw and unfortunately it was manky inside with broken coat hangers, tickets and stickers. I have a phobia of stickers and they were EVERYWHERE, up the walls, stuck to the floor and the bench, eeek! I couldn't run back out because the attendant was right outside, so I just had to stay there and I did a gazillion checks afterwards that I hadn't got any stuck to me (shivers at the thought, bleugh)!!
