Day 1064 - Shoesday Tuesday

Shoes: Irregular Choice Alice pink White Rabbit

I have my final Alice shoe for you this week, the beautiful pink White Rabbit.
Well actually I think they are called 'peach', because the sequins is a metallic peachy pink which flashes yellow or green in the light. The underside of the sequins (it's attached in a 'flippable' fashion) is a definite peach, but matte. I'm firmly in the 'why have a straight colour when it can be shiny and multi coloured?' camp, so mine will remain shiny side up!  I'll talk more about the actual shoe in my big review post on Pink Haired Princess this week, but I will tell you, I'm besotted with these.  I just think they are awesome!!  I sized up on these because I was a little worried about the high sides and small opening to get into and thank goodness I did.  They are definitely a full size out.  My toes just touch the end, but not in an uncomfortable way and they seem to 'hug' your feet, which is a rather pleasant feeling, but yes, definitely opt for the bigger size if you can.  They are still available on that link above or also here.  What do you think, do you like these? Back to 'normal' un-Alice posts next week, but it's been a joy sharing these wonderful shoes for the past 5 weeks.

Wearing: Miss Selfridge Barbie leggings.
Fit: 5" heel and 1" concealed platform.  A full size too small, so size up if you can.
Comfort:  The heel provides a nice steady base, but I haven't worn them at length to comment on how comfortable or uncomfortable they might be.

  1. I agree with the snug fit. When I put them on I feel like they're correct in size when sitting, but when I walk my toes cram to the front. I also feel like sizing up would make them slip off my feet because they are so heavy. Essentially I think these are so high my toe cramming problem is going to happen regardless of the size. Needless to say, when I wear these out I will not just stay standing long. Hope this helps everyone!!!

    1. Thank you for that. Ah yes, I had the same with R2D2. The size up felt comfier, but still my toes pushed to the front when standing/walking. My usual size were tight at first, but loosened up and still my toes fall forward. I worried about sizing up on One Lump Or Two because of the weight of the heel, I thought it would pull the shoe off my foot, but they are so tight, they don't!

  2. Yep agree. I've got the 42/8 and I'm a 41/7.5 and ideally I'd have opted for the 43/8.5 if I'd had the chance. Lovely shoes just a shame about the sizing. Feel for the true 43 ladies out there that can't wear these :-(

    1. Yep, IC really dropped the ball with this one. I they would have had people working for them try them on, they could have informed everyone. I am a size 40 and had to get a 41, but I live in the states and could only find a black 41. I got a pink 40 but would have had to do Chinese foot binding and break my arch for them to fit they were so small and my toes were so shoved into the toe and all crunched up.

I had to send the pink 40s back, and now I have the black 41's and I just really do not like these shoes in black, so I think I am going to get rid of them. I tried the links on here for the stores, but they are UK and do not ship to US. We USA girls are all bigger so its really hard to find any larger sizes left, and I looked for these weeks ago, after I received my pink Eu 40's which should have just been marked 39s or 38s, cause that is what they truly are.

If IC would have made everyone aware from the get go about this, I could have purchased pink 41s on the 26th of Feb when the line launched. If they are not going to do better with their sizing, they really need to put a fit review on their site at the same time and a little before new shoes launch. Everyone is having the same problem with this and it is just not right of them to dick people around like they do.

Its a fight just to be able to get the shoes and we shouldn't have to worry about getting the right size too. By the time any of us can make a review, it is too late and the shoes have sold out and then we have to keep checking the stores websites and waiting for other people to return their shoes because they didn't fit them and then maybe we can order their cast offs.

At any rate, I love IC shoes, but I am very frustrated and angry with their lack of concern for our troubles getting a correct fit.

BTW: Love the shoes on you! They look excellent and I love love love them with the barbie leggings. good one!

    2. Also BTW pink and red were the favorite colors of Richard The Lion Hearted, but he called them crimson and rose. Ya gotta love a guy who loves pink and red together! One of the best color combinations of all time. Gotta get my hands on some pink 41's.

This reminds me of the time my grampa had two advertising combs from his company and he gave my boy cousin the clear red plastic comb and he gave me the black comb and I can still remember how at 4 or 5 I was seething about it. I thought, he was a boy, and I'm a girl and I should get the clear red plastic comb.

Also, I love love love red and pink and this whole White Rabbit IC shoe thing reminds me of that unfair comb deal. And my cousin didn't even care about the comb and lost it.

And as far as these shoes go, no one really wants the black white rabbit shoes. Thats why they're still available.

    3. I agree Laura, it's disappointing when the sizing issues knock a size off the chart. However size 2 ladies will be rejoicing as they can buy the size 3's for once!

    4. Thanks Becca. This is why I avoid buying anything from the US that I'm unsure about sizing on (usually clothes), because it's a hassle and also a lot of money to return or re-order. There's quite a few US stockists of IC now, Dollskill, Ashbury Skies, Tilted Sole, Akira, Japan LA, Think Geek, Aberrant Sole, Zooji, The Shoe Attic, Fun and ModCloth, off the top of my head. Most of which carried Alice-I think we had less stockists available here for that collection tbh. The bigger sizes do tend to go quickly, even here. I would find sizing info very helpful online, because I don't live near anywhere that sells IC, so have to buy all mine online and guess at sizing. Thankfully IC have free returns for UK customers, but with a collection like this, you run the risk of it being sold out by the time you return your pair.

  3. UPDATE!!! I have just gotten a size 40 (my previous post was for 39) they are roomier for the toes and much more comfortable to walk in. I will be keeping this size. Also with this size I can wear pretty socks and hose if I want. The only drawback is minor slipping. Nothing that can't be fixed whereas the 39s had me hobbling with red toes and uncomfortable.

  4. I have these in black in size 41, and am a 40.5 in IC shoes (40 too short, 41 slightly loose); they fit fine, not too tight at the vamp like some 41s are (despite being too loose everywhere else), not too short. They fit me better than One Lump or Two (tight at the vamp), which surprised me.

I do have a very high arch and a narrow heel, though, and it may just suit that foot shape.

    1. I think you and I are the same size. I had exactly the same experience. Although I do wish my 41s were a little roomier in the toe area. It is so hard to be between sizes (40.5) Half size people are doubly discriminated against in the shoe world.

Why isn't there a shoe mfr who makes only half sizes and no whole sizes. Let the whole size people see what we have to go through. Padding or cramping all the time.

    2. So you're not just slightly resentful that you weren't able to get the pink? I guess for me its childhood stuff because of my boy cousin getting the red comb and then my girl cousin would get the pink stuff and I had to take the blue if that was all there was and I was always angry that I didn't get the pink and my cousin was younger so my mom and her sister always told me that she should have the pink, and so now I am obsessed with getting the pink of things. Not to mention, its just the best color ever.

    3. The pink on these shoes is just absolutely gorgeous too! It is shiny and iridescent and what I like to call Mermaid Pink as a Mermaids tail might be who has long pink hair with blood red cupid bow lips.

    4. I agree Sylv, One Lump are really tight on me even in the size up (though it's good because the heel is so heavy, I feared a shoe too big would slip off with the weight of the heel).

    5. Becca I really love the colour on these too. Not a 'tacky' pink and the shimmer, flashes of other colours and way the sequins sit, do feel really mermaidy.

  5. These shoes are so beautiful, I love everything about the design (just not the inconsistent sizing!)

    1. Yeah, I guessed pretty well with my Alice choices, minus All Mad Here boots which I expected to be small, but were very generous.

  6. Argh, I didn't size up on mine, I hope they fit okay :(
