Day 885 - Romantics Are A Dying Breed & This Romance Is Dead To Me

Shoes: Pink jelly wedges 'Kyle' Harajuku Lovers

Finally up-to-date with TSGD posts, yippee! This outfit is from Monday and you can see my corresponding Monster High Monday makeup post here, yes it involved blue lips and glitter! I've had this skirt for weeks and never quite felt right in it, so changed into something else. This time I stuck with it, after attempting this same outfit some time ago but getting makeup all over the neck of the t-shirt and having to change. I found these shoes which I've only worn once or twice, but I wanted a bright colour to brighten the dark print and tie in with the colourful print on the top. I'm still not entirely convinced that I suit t-shirts, especially those with higher necklines like this one, but I want to like them so am persevering! It's a pity Harajuku Lovers shoes were so short-lived here.  When they were available, they were a struggle to find until Amazon/Javari stocked them and now you can only find older styles on eBay.  It's a shame because the HL footwear was the younger, more flamboyant and fun sister of Gwen Stefani's L.A.M.B. line and while I still like the latter, they are very pricey and that kitsch element is missing.

Wearing: Brown snake print maxi skirt and green beaded and pearl cardi Primark, rainbow panda t-shirt H By Henry Holland, pink belt taken from another skirt, floral hair comb Yama Yama Pretty Mama.
Fit: Run large in length but narrow width, adjustable buckle fastening. 4" wedge heel, 1 1/2" platform.
Comfort: That tight strap across the foot doesn't rub, but can feel very tight after a while.

Day 674 - But She Ain't Messin' With No Broke

Shoes:  Pink jelly wedges 'Kyle' Harajuku Lovers

I thought I'd worn these wedges on the blog before, but a quick check reveals I haven't!  They are yet another pair that I've had for years and unearthed from the bottom of the shoe-box pile so I could wear them during summer.  The fit is a little strange, usually in American sized shoes I need an 8 or at least a 7.5, but these are only a 7.  I can remember ordering the larger size and although they were tight across the foot, there was masses extra in length, so I ordered the size down.  Again, they are tight across the foot (but no more than the larger size) and you can see they fit better at the front.  The ankle strap is also super-long with me wearing it in the last hole (unheard of for me) and it was still gaping, so smaller ankles may need to pierce another hole or two.  They are almost like flatforms, so I felt a little flat-footed and strange in them, but they are a fun shoe for summer.

Wearing: Parrot print maxi-dress G21 at Asda, bow cardigan New Look.
Fit:  See above, run large in length but narrow, adjustable buckle fastening.  4" wedge heel, 1 1/2" platform.
Comfort:  Because they're tight they might bug you after a while.

Day 631 - I Gotta Get Back To Simplicity

Shoes: Green and purple 'Pandora' Harajuku Lovers

I'm all for change but not when it comes to technology or anything related to that. Yesterday I thought I had nothing better to do than upload my outfit images to Photobucket, crop, resize and edit as usual and upload here. Uploaded them to Photobucket, no problem, then clicked edit and felt like I'd been transported to another planet. For those that don't know, their editing system has undergone a massive overhaul (and I had no warning). There's lots more effects you can apply to your images (good), maybe a little too much that they've overcomplicated the editing process. What got me though was the amount of editing tools I'd previously used that no longer exist. Yes it takes a while to adjust to a new layout or system (using the 'new editor' post function for example on Blogger took me a while to get the hang off but now I wouldn't be without it), that I can almost handle (although I have to admit to going into an absolute panic a couple of weeks ago when I clicked to see the new blogger layout and had absolutely no idea how to work it or get it back to the 'normal' one-going to hate it when when we have no option but to use it), however removing previous tools with no substitute is just wrong. I pay for an account on Photobucket, purely for my blog and considering I don't have a job and don't make any money from my blogs it's not as easy as 'upping sticks' to another program (and that would probably be just as alien to me too). I guess I'll eventually get the hang of it (although will still miss those invaluable tools), but it took me all last night and this morning just to put together these few images. Time I don't have especially to waste on something that took me a quarter of the time before! Anyway, I had a little fun with some effects (might as well have put the time/effort to some use)-I'm not sure I'd do this every time but it's given me a fair idea of some colour effects and frames I like or don't like. Word to the wise though, when I edited my photo then saved and replaced it over the original, it shows your updated version in your album but uploads to blogger as the original and when I clicked to edit it again on Photobucket it showed the original-I worked around it by clicking the image from my album, saving it to my computer and uploading that version to Photobucket (again time wasted and album space taken up, but hopefully this will be a glitch they'll fix). I haven't used text in images yet, but apparently that's a nightmare too!

Wearing: Black floral dress Dorothy Perkins, black leggings and cardigan Primark.
Fit:  Reasonably generous and these are a US7.5, adjustable buckle on slingback.  Mirror heel 5 1/4", 3/4" platform.
Comfort: No issues with these.

Day Three Hundred & Forty - Kandice Love

Shoes: Black Kandice platforms Harajuku Lovers

On Wednesday I tried on these shoes, although I didn't go anywhere in them. You won't have seen them here before, because they are new-ish, bought a couple of months ago. I always say it's really difficult to buy US made shoes in the UK, when you don't know if the retailer has taken into account that a UK size 5 for example falls between a US 7 and 8. I find for this brand, I need an 8, so ordered a size up (UK6) and it turns out they sent a US9, so they are too large for me! The shop I bought from didn't have a smaller size anyway, so it couldn't be helped and they're just so cute I don't want to sell them (plus it's really hard to find HL shoes here)! As they're so heavy it's difficult to keep them on my feet when walking, so I'll need insoles and heel grips I think, anything to make them fit!

Wearing: No outfit post, tights are Miss Selfridge, brand new on and I stuck my thumb through the top and ripped them! Fabulous!
Fit: Obviously this style was bought too large, but I'd guess they run true to size. Staggering 6" cork heel and 1 3/4" platform.
Comfort: I can't comment considering I've never worn them anywhere yet! Your calves will ache with this heel height though.

Day Two Hundred & Thirty Five - I Heart

Did another massive shopping spree in Primark today-if they stop making floral or lace dresses, I'll be a rich woman! I also popped into River Island to find the Miu Miu alike cherry heels that I recently blogged about, but no luck. So I went straight online when I came home and bought the pink pair along with 4 dresses. I'm not holding out much hope for the dresses fitting me, but then if they don't at least I can get a refund on the huge amount I've just spent! What happened to 'not spending my money all at once'? I'm hopeless! You'll probably remember these gorgeous shoes from Pink Haired Princess recently, I'd like to think of myself as the unofficial UK spokesperson for Harajuku Lovers!
