Day 1110 - Shoesday Tuesday

wearing moschino cheap & chic prehistoric bone bow shoes
Shoes: Moschino Cheap & Chic bone bow courts

Hi gang, I'm back! I took a few weeks off to recover from my gallbladder operation, but am feeling great (well the wounds have other ideas, but I, myself, am fine). I wanted to post this OOTD from a few months ago, the one I mentioned in a previous post, that I struggled to blog about. I don't know why I avoided posting it. Despite the current wardrobe struggles, I loved the outfit and felt nice in it at the time, so maybe I thought the photos didn't quite reflect that, I don't know. I am struggling a bit to decide what to wear, while nothing fits me and I don't really want to buy anything new until my weight sticks. So I probably have roughly 30% of my wardrobe left and even then, a lot of it is ill-fitting. This outfit was for my Mum's 60th birthday in March. I felt really guilty because while the gallstone issue was ongoing we were avoiding going out for a big family meal and I suggested everyone went without me, but then they would've felt guilty leaving me at home and I couldn't exactly sit there and eat nothing. It was also my parents Ruby wedding anniversary a few days later and we were having family round for a little daytime party, plus my wee cousin was getting married the next week (same family), so it would've been a bit much to organise another party and with my M.E. as well, I had too much going on as it was. Instead we went out for a wee treat one afternoon on my sister's day off.

Dy 1085 - Shoesday Tuesday

wearing moschino cheap & chic tiger shoes
Shoes:  Yellow tiger court shoes Moschino Cheap & Chic

Now that I've shown you all my Alice shoes, it's time for an oldish OOTD post! I've just checked back my photo albums and these images were taken around 4 months ago. They might seem a little familiar, because I shared some photos on my Instagram and Facebook at the time. As you know, I don't get out much these days, but I believe I was going for blood tests at the hospital this day (exciting stuff). I'm noting my tactic of wearing something to distract me from the needle! I ended up bruised after this one actually, probably because the tourniquet was on for half a day. Honestly, it took forever as she tried (in vain!) to find a vein (not happening) and in the end just went in blind. I was probably asleep from boredom by this point. The more often they struggle with my veins, the more anxious I'm becoming about blood tests. I like to know they are going straight in, confidently and not dithering about, wiggling the needle or taking it out and trying again, just do it already!

Day 973 - It's A Marshmallow World In The Winter

Shoes: Black patent heart peep toe Moschino Cheap & Chic

A bit light on photos for this post (little time and too dark), so you can probably better see this dress in the product photos here. The seam under the bust really accentuates my boobs, which I don't need (!) and while I love those details at the waist, it also seems to emphasise my tummy, however I still really like the dress, even if it's not one I wear often. That's usually because my hair clashes with it and yesterday I'll admit the purple kinda did, but hey-ho. I was mid-way through getting ready and Mum shouted up to tell me my sister and her family were popping in, so I threw these shoes on and they hadn't been either of the two pairs I'd planned on teaming with this dress.  The red heart is much brighter than the red of the dress, so I wasn't 100% happy with my choice.  It sounds like I hated it all, but honestly I didn't!  I loved my makeup and I piled my hair up, just trying to do something a little different with it!  My youngest nephew was in an absolute foul mood-never seen him so bad (think staying up until 2am on Hogmanay had a lot to do with it).  At one point I couldn't help but laugh when he threw himself to the ground and did a textbook toddler strop banging his legs and fists on the ground!  Twenty minutes later he was flashing his dimple and charming everyone like usual, phew! We're babysitting all three tomorrow, so they better be on their best behaviour!

Wearing:  Red lace dress Pearl Lowe (Peacocks), black tights and pearl bow Primark, black clip on earrings Mawi.
Fit: 4 1/4" heel, a little generous in the heel.
Comfort: No issues with these and easy to walk in.

Day 948 - I'm Going To Break Me A Million Hearts

Shoes: Black patent heart peep toe Moschino Cheap & Chic

I had a busy weekend, but am on a mission to catch up on blog posts today!  This outfit from last week features two new items and a cardigan I've never worn before.  The cardi was something unusually I spied instore (usually I browse online and know what I want before heading to the shops).  I knew exactly how I wanted to style it but for some reason it's sat unworn all these months.  This is the type of thing I used to wear a lot (in my early 20's)-I was all about pencil skirts and fitted tops back then!  Despite being twice the size I was then, it's actually a style that still works for my curvy figure.  I don't think plus-size women should be made to cover their curves in billowing fabrics if they don't want.  Celebrating and emphasising your shape can often create a much more flattering look than hiding those curves.  I really loved this outfit and felt awesome in it, so that's all that matters to me.  I've been desperate to track down another black pencil skirt and found this one in Primark which fitted the bill, it's got a velvet baroque floral design on it and just pulls on with an elasticated waist.  I bought mine a size smaller as I wanted a snug fit and it's just perfect on me.  It's got some stretch to it, but is quite stiff, so you feel it really pulls you in.  I also got some shapewear at the time, a little black slip, so wore that underneath for a smoother silhouette.  I also teamed it with these stunning Disney tights, how cool are they?  You'll have already seen them if you follow my Facebook or Tumblr.  They are sheer nude with Minnie and Mickey Mouse on the backs of the legs, that kinda look like tattoos.  So awesome!  Then there's the shoes, as if the outfit was fabulous enough!  Are we liking this look?

Wearing:  Leopard print cardigan Star by Julien Macdonald, pencil skirt, Mickey Mouse tattoo tights Primark, red patent belt gift (Madeira).
Fit: 4 1/4" heel, a little generous in the heel.
Comfort: No issues with these and easy to walk in.

Day 904 - You Want Me Down On Earth, But I Am Up In Space

Shoes: Black patent heart peep toe Moschino Cheap & Chic

I felt like a little matryoshka dolly in this outfit on Friday! I've had the dress for years but haven't worn it for a while, so was surprised to find it still fits (I'm hit or miss with New Look). I purchased it from the Tall range so that it would be a decent length. It was really too hot for a cardigan, but as any large busted lady will know, a cardigan is pretty necessary when it comes to sleeveless dresses. If I get a dress to fit across my chest, it gapes at the armholes (exposing oodles of bra) and is usually too big on the waist. This dress isn't actually too bad, but I wanted my shoulders protected from the sun even if I was only going out for a few minutes (plus it partly covered my heat rash/clawed chest). So I found this little cape I'd bought ages ago in the Glasgow Miss Selfridge. I'm sure it was about £30 at the time which I thought was extortionate for what it is, but I fell in love with it and treated myself. I call it my 'Dr Quinn' cape, because it feels very much like a period piece. Anyway, I thought it looked great with this dress and paired with my little fluffy heart shoes. Random fact, in my late teens/early 20's I used to love wearing these sort of Gothic Victorian inspired pieces with high necks, frills etc.

Day 886 - My Life Would Suck Without You

Shoes: Black patent heart peep toe Moschino Cheap & Chic

My friend that cancelled my 'birthday' lunch rearranged to come and visit yesterday with her baby. I've been feeling pretty wrecked, so wasn't entirely full of cheer beforehand, but it was a lovely day. The sun was shining, her baby is absolutely adorable, so much so that I wanted to keep her (and sorry baby for holding you so the vase behind makes you look like you have Bart Simpson hair, oops silly Aunt) and we had a good ol' natter with lovely food and it was all very relaxed. I've practically lived in my jammies these past few weeks, so it was nice to make an effort to get properly dressed.  Onto my outfit and this had been a contender for our original date, but as it had been even warmer that day I decided on something else. I've been searching for a shiny red belt for a wee while now and my Mum brought me this one back from her holiday to Madeira and it's my new favourite thing! The dress I love to bits and always feel fabulous in it, then there's the winning shoe and bag combination. How awesome are they both?!

Wearing: Floral wiggle dress ASOS, red belt gift, Charming girls clutch Love Moschino, Mischief sunglasses Irregular Choice, earrings Mawi, frog ring Miss Selfridge, pig, bunny and unicorn rings Topshop, other rings my Granny's.

Day 876 - I'm Seeing Flashbacks Dancing In My Mind

Shoes: Black patent heart peep toe Moschino Cheap & Chic

If there's one thing I hate, it's being rushed when getting dressed. When I was a student I lived with three other girls and usually the best part of a night-out was beforehand in our house, deciding what to wear and putting on makeup and doing our hair while listening to cheesy music and anticipating the evening ahead. I wouldn't say I was the worst offender for taking the longest to get ready (probably second last and part of the time last!), although I used to 'tong' my hair which took an hour alone (showing my age with that reference) so I couldn't really get ready in a hurry. Anyway I absolutely reached panic point when my housemate (quickest at getting ready and usually half pissed whilst waiting for the rest of us) called a taxi before I was finished. I hate that last minute rush of grabbing jewellery, changing my mind about shoes and usually forgetting something I need with me, then being all hot and flustered leaving the house. On Tuesday, Mum and I went shopping and I was doing my usual taking it easy approach, then before I knew it, it was time to leave and I wasn't organised! I grabbed these rings which were sitting next to my bed, threw on these pearls and hoped everything I needed was already in my bag. I picked the dress and tights purely because I figured I couldn't go wrong with black (and they were close to hand). Given more time I probably would've changed my bag and picked different rings. I quite liked the pearls (so did the orange lady in Boots) and these shoes are just so amazing!
