Day 787 - It's About Time That We Turned Out The Lights

Shoes: Indigo ankle boot 'Blunt' Feud

Happy New Year...almost! I managed to get dressed and go out for some fresh air today, long overdue (been an entire week since I left the house)! It was pretty darn chilly, but at least it was dry. I'm not doing anything special for New Year, so have been busy blogging tonight, which has been quite good fun actually! I hope you all have a fab Hogmanay and wish you health, happiness and pretty shoes for 2013!

Wearing: Frida dress Swan by Clements Ribeiro, black leggings and hat Primark, black cardigan Bonmarche.
Fit: Concealed platform 1 1/4", heel 5 1/4". True to size, slip on.

Day 786 - It Was A Long And Dark December

Shoes: Gunmetal glitter 'Attack' Carvela

Hello! This is my last 'backlog' post; it's my 'Boxing Day' outfit and I've had jammie days ever since! Terrible I know! I've not been outdoors since Christmas Eve! Anyway, I've had this dress for ages, but never really had an occasion to wear it.  Bold red isn't a colour I usually wear, so it's a little outside my comfort zone.  The dress itself has a rather strange fit I think; The 18 was miles too big, the 14 was far too tight in the skirt and a little tight in the bust, the 16 (which I'm wearing) is still quite big.  I just wish the shape was a little less fussy, like the 'Betty' dresses, because there's too much gaping fabric and strange little folds and tucks going on.  The shoulders and sleeves are really massive, as is around the waist (although not after all I ate on Boxing Day), so I think I need to play around with the sleeves especially and sort them out (which means it goes on the 'must fix' pile that I'll ignore all year)!  I like the shoulder embellishment and the length is pretty and I actually think the colour is a pleasant change for me.  Of course my glitter Carvela shoes were just screaming to be worn with this dress, even if I had just worn them a couple of days earlier! I think I've now managed to wear them with bare legs, tights and leggings, so they're proving rather versatile.  Hope you all have a happy new year, if we don't speak before then x

Wearing: Red 'Joan' dress Swan by Clements Ribeiro, belt gift, panda ring and flower ring Jon Richard at Debenhams, spike ear cuff ASOS, clip earrings Debenhams, flower hair clip gift.
Fit: Run narrow, but I felt the next size up were gaping in places, so stuck to my regular size. 4 3/4" heel.
Comfort: Can crush your toes after a while.

Day 785 - There Were Nights When The Wind Was So Cold

Shoes: Amethyst globe 'Lady Dragon' Vivienne Westwood Anglomania & Melissa

Here's my Christmas Day outfit!  I hadn't really planned anything special to wear this year, although had a couple of possibilities in mind.  It was just my Mum, Dad, sister and I as my older sister and her brood were coming to us on Boxing Day.  In the end I didn't wear either of the 'planned' outfits, after spotting this yet unworn dress.  I figured my new Lady Dragons would look super cute with it.  I just couldn't resist these shoes; I love my original 'globes', so was thrilled they'd been reproduced in new colours this season.  Both colours are gorgeous, but the sparkling amethyst just blew me away! So, I've been stalking them until my-wardrobe came up trumps with a 40% off sale preview!  My outfit felt a little 'thrown together' to be honest and I wasn't entirely happy with it (forgot to take photos of my rings too), but it was comfortable enough to wear, especially with all that eating!  Hope you all had a good Christmas.

Wearing: Purple lace dip hem dress New Look, embellished matador cardigan Swan by Clements Ribeiro, nude jewel leggings and horse necklace Topshop, tortoise belt ASOS and unicorn lace clasp Bambi Cottage.
Fit: 4 1/4" heel, true to size (narrow in the toe).
Comfort: After a few hours they can crush the toes.

Day 784 - Thought I Heard You Say You Love Me

Shoes: Gunmetal glitter 'Attack' Carvela

Merry Christmas! I'm just blogging a little here and there, when I can over Christmas. Christmas Eve is usually my busiest time, I like to make it to both the 'christingle' and 'midnight carol' services at church and am normally running around wrapping last-minute presents too! For the earlier service I wore this outfit; I'd wanted this dress the moment I saw it as I love the pansy print and it's a similar shape to my heart dress which I really adore. I snagged it in the sale a few weeks back and it's super pretty in person too. I teamed it with my star tights and some super sparkly shoes!

Wearing: Pansy 'Betty' dress Swan by Clements Ribeiro, black star tights Henry Holland.
Fit: Run narrow, but I felt the next size up were gaping in places, so stuck to my regular size. 4 3/4" heel.
Comfort: No issues with these, although the heel height won't be for everyone.

Shoes: Green metallic 'Little Fish' Irregular Choice
Later at night, I changed into something a little cosier and comfier. It was raining, so I was aiming for 'reasonably sensible' (which we all know is nowhere near real-sensible). So I popped on my spotty Dorothy Perkins dress you can see here (it was far too dark to take photos at this time of night) and my green boots.

Fit: I've tried both sizes and while my regular size fit, I was more comfortable in the size-up. Heel 4 1/4", slip on.
Comfort: No issues.

Day 783 - Muscle Cars Drove A Truck Right Through My Heart

Shoes: Pink glitter courts RedValentino

I've really been feeling like poo these past couple of days. First of all we've had non-stop, torrential rain and flooding, so I've been unable to get out. Everything has been getting on top of me and I've really not been looking after myself and trying to do too much, which resulted in the mother of all killer headaches yesterday. I was convinced I was dying and quite frankly didn't care, because it hurt so much. I've got a ton of other health issues and I'm stressing about a really expensive eBay package I sent which has possibly gone missing-I'm a worrier and can't help it! I spent most of the day in bed and even with paracetamol and tiger balm, I couldn't shift the migraine. Anyway today I had a nice long shower, tided my room up a bit, wrapped the final lot of Christmas presents and felt much better. I still feel weak, but thankfully the headache has gone. So I thought I'd photograph these shoes, even if I didn't get dressed or go out.  Sadly the shoes are on their way to being returned. I just decided I can't afford to keep them (money-another stress), even with the 40% off discount I had.  Plus they didn't feel quite as special as I'd hoped once they arrived. Willpower-go me!

Wearing: No outfit.
Fit: A little narrow.  Forgot to measure heel, but think it was around 4 1/4".
Comfort:  Quite 'hard', would maybe require 'breaking in'.

Day 782 - Spotlights Don't Do You Justice Baby

Shoes: Black knee high boots 'Jupiter' Irregular Choice

I didn't expect to fall in love with this dress, in fact I didn't pay much attention to it at all when it first came out.  Then I noticed a couple of people wearing it on their blogs and decided it was really pretty, so recently ordered it along with the pansy 'Betty' dress I'd wanted so much.  Turns out, when you slip this dress on, it just feels so good.  It's comfortable and flattering and I've really fallen in love with it.  I wasn't sold on the print at first either (I'm usually a floral or spots or lace person) and I thought the shimmering gold threading throughout was a little much, but it's really lovely.  There's also cute little lace inserts on the shoulders.  Like I'd mentioned, I had an early start yesterday, so the majority of photos I took had to be deleted because my eyes were almost shut in them (it was rather amusing).  As expected it was lashing with rain the entire day, so I dressed weather appropriately (as sensible and 'rain-proof' as my shoes get) and was all bundled up with coat, gloves, hat and scarf too!

Wearing: 'Celia' dress Swan by Clements Ribeiro, flying pig necklace gift.
Fit: True to size (although I opted for a size up purely for leg room) but the foot is a little large on me. Full length zip. Heel just over 4 1/4" and small concealed platform.
Comfort: No issues.
