Day 820 - You Never Call Me When You're Sober

Shoes: Turquoise 'Tickling Loris' Irregular Choice

If I felt out of my depth wearing the unicorn jumper last year, then I was drowning with this sweatshirt! Yeah "sweatshirt", even the name sounds pretty darn hideous to me. However when I spied this Barbie print on both a sweatshirt and jogging bottoms from ASOS (they also had Disney themed ones at the time) I was super intrigued. You know I like anything dolly-ish and the print was so retro and fun, but what the hell could I do with a sweatshirt or joggies? I bought them to try because they were selling out fast (actually I think the jumper was the last one of any size and a pure fluke I happened to see it the day I was looking). This was last year and for months they've sat in my cupboard because I don't quite know what to do with them. The bottoms, I figure I would wear around the house, although I tend to favour just wearing my jammies on a 'casual' day. I kinda wanted to do something with the top though, so the whole outfit wasn't just a 'hope nobody sees it in the house' type. I wish I'd had the option of a smaller size, because it's very large (ok, I know it's supposed to be..), the first thing that had to go was the neckline...my figure is soooo not made for high-necks like this! After a quick snip, it felt much less restrictive. The fabric is very soft and more like a thick t-shirt than a proper sweatshirt, so I wondered if I could tuck it into my skirt to avoid looking like a giant Barbie tent!  However is it like a total "80's Dad" no-no to tuck a sweatshirt in?  I don't own trousers and it kinda looked ridiculous over the skirt.  The sleeves are also quite bat-wingy...!  In all honesty, I didn't feel uncomfortable in it, I'm just not used to wearing something that isn't shaped and fitted.  I still love the print.  Tell me though is it completely hideous? Did I just create the ultimate fashion sin?  Or do you have any ideas of what I could do with it.  I would take it in, so it was fitted, but I'd lose a lot of the fabulous print that way.

Wearing: Barbie sweatshirt ASOS, lace 'Grace' skirt Swan by Clements Ribeiro, black tights and coat Primark, belt Dorothy Perkins.
Fit: True in length but tight across the foot, I opted for the size up. Heel almost 4".
Comfort: Aside from the top digging in a little they gave me no problems and are easy to walk in.

  1. I think it looks good. I cant wear jumpers either due to boobage. I really want to get a leopard print pencil skirt but am unsure what to wear on top. Any ideas? x

    1. Yeah I think with my big boobs+a jumper it just makes me look massive all over, which is why I'm unsure about it! Ooh a leopard print skirt sounds nice....I'd either wear it with a simple black top or else something like bright pink! Some sort of blouse or a plain long sleeved top? Or if you could find a blouse with a nice lace collar, that would be nice.

    1. I heard someone else say they'd seen a Barbie sweatshirt in Primark, never seen anything like it in mine. Yeah the print on this is pretty cool, even got cats and stuff all over it! the back is printed too like the sleeves.
