Day 1086 - Shoesday Tuesday

Shoes: Blue Carni Val Irregular Choice

Hello, how are you all today? Another outfit from the "archives" this week. Well actually this one was just in August, so not too long ago. I had a trip to....you guessed it, the doctor! This might've been to discuss the blood test results and decide what to do next.  No idea really, these appointments are beginning to blur. Anyway, I was feeling rather inspired this day and was like "I'm just going to go for it and wear something a little off-beat, because I can". You've seen this Collectif skirt before. It's a deeper turquoise than it photographs and the black spots are flocked. It's really high waisted (and came with detachable braces which I never wear), so essentially sits just under my bust and I was in a bit of a quandary as to what to do on top. Usually I'd tuck the top in (even though it makes me look booby), but as I was wearing this cardi, it didn't feel right. The cardigan is a little cropped, so it didn't cover the lower waist seam of the skirt, but I don't think that mattered. Then the shoes, oh the shoes.
I've made no secret of Truly Magical being one of my favourite styles to come from IC in recent years and in my dreams (literally) I envisioned a summer version with open toe. Lo and behold, these appeared for SS16. Yes, I was freaked out!  There's a tiny platform, the bows have been replaced by fluffy pom poms, which I'm totally on board with. The two prints they came in were tropical, they have glitter heels and an open toe unlike their predecessor. I really adore them. I'd bought the size up in both my TM's and the ankle cuff is a close fit on me, so I didn't know if I could get away with the smaller size or not. I worried with the toe being open on these that it would show if they were too big, but I bought the size up anyway. They are roomy in the foot, perhaps even more so than TM, but again the ankle is a good fit and the length doesn't seem too bad, so I probably needed this size. The sides do gape a bit on me and I just felt they looked a bit baggy this day, so I popped some socks on to disguise it and they looked much better. I can totally forgive the fit, given that the shoes are so amazing! I bought the green version as well, but I think these are my favourite. I was so glad I'd made a bit of an effort with this outfit, like the olden days (!) as most of the time nowadays, I put on the first, comfiest dress I see and be done with it and even my doctor thought these shoes were incredible.  What do you think, do you like this look?

Wearing: Iron Fist S'hell cardigan, Collectif Mary polka dot skirt, ASOS black frill ankle socks.
Fit: 4" heel and very small platform. Zipped back. I bought the size up, which are wide/roomy in the foot, but fit my ankle well. The length seems spot-on.
Comfort: I think the ankle might rub a bit until these are broken in. As I was wearing socks I had no issues. This heel is easy to walk on and just feels like an ordinary heel despite being cut-away. wearing iron fist shell cardigan, collectif mary skirt and irregular choice carni valwearing collectif mary skirt and irregular choice blue carni val shoes wearing irregular choice blue carni val shoesirregular choice blue carni val shoes

    1. Sadly, I didn't, the cardi has these really cool shells on each side on the front. They are made from this really cool two tone, colour shifting stuff and go between green and purple in the light.
