Day 1072 - Shoesday Tuesday

Shoes: Irregular Choice Battle With Artoo (Star Wars)

Hello, a few apologies to begin with. There was no Shoesday Tuesday last week-it was my birthday and I wasn't organised with a scheduled post and had every intention of doing it on Wednesday, but time got away from me. Secondly, it took all my energy to take these photos, so I wasn't able to get dressed and ended up taking them over two days, so there's two sets of jammies and different locations! Concentrate on the shoes and it'll be fine! So, Star Wars phase 2 launched last week and I wasn't expecting to buy more than one pair (seriously, I didn't), but I ended up with three. I still have two to arrive, so I'm not sure which ones I'll keep and which fit, but on Saturday "Battle With Artoo" arrived.
I fell for the R2D2 styles, which I wasn't that happy about, because I do struggle with that heel (R2D2 were the only style I bought from the original launch). I don't walk these days anyway, but I still felt it was a waste to buy multiple pairs with the same heel, when just looking at them makes my arches ache. However, something has changed this time and these are perfectly fine to walk in. I've measured the heels and even sat them next to each other to compare and there's no difference. They both have the same small concealed platform too, so no change there. The only difference is the uppers and obviously, magic! Last time, my feet ached (even sitting down) and froze to the point it was difficult to find the power to lift and move them to take steps. When I did walk, it was tentatively and I wobbled a bit (I videoed it here and you can probably see). There's no such issues this time though, I can walk confidently without wobbling and there's no instant ache, numbing my feet and rendering them useless. I'm not saying I'd last 8 hours in them, but a significant improvement on last time. As for sizing, the originals were a little snug on the first wear, but these are fine in my usual size. As for the actual shoes, well they are beautiful! The silver mesh uppers are not transparent enough to see outlines of toes when wearing. The glitter sections are amazing, such beautiful colours. R2D2 is the same mould as last time, though I must admit I wasn't as conscious of the heel width (last time I recall noting not to keep my feet too close together as the heels might clash when walking). So yep, I would highly recommend these, I must admit I'm hoping to keep them, but I need to see all three before making my mind up. What do you think, like these? I've compiled a list of all UK and worldwide retailers stocking Star Wars and which styles/sizes are in stock, which I'll keep updating regularly over the next few weeks, if you're searching for a specific pair.

Fit: 5" heel and 3/4" concealed platform. True to size.
Comfort: Probably not "all day" shoes, but nowhere near as difficult or painful to walk in as the original R2D2 heels.

  1. Happy belated birthday!
I didn't really like the actual shoe patterns on the last R2D2 heels, but I really LOVE these ones! The fighters with stars and moons just look awesome!
Those unicorn jammies are super cute, hope you're feeling a little better. xo

    1. Hi, I have a 38 in FCT (big in the heel area on me) and 39 in White Rabbit (perfect fit for me) and these are a 38. I'm usually a 38 or have to size up to a 39, but these felt fine in my regular size, the first time I put them on.

  4. Oh, they're lovely on. I've never seen the movies so these collections have rather passed me by. I hadn't realised these were a kind of mesh upper.
