Day 1035 - Shoesday Tuesday

feet wearing blue mermaid printed court shoes with hem of floral skirt in view
Shoes:  Lollipop Lorelei court Iron Fist

These shoes were on my list of ones you hadn't seen already and though I have photos in a folder somewhere that I took at the time, I actually wore them for real (yep, outside the house), so you're getting a whole outfit instead. They were taken a couple of months ago when I was going for blood tests, not something I'm particularly fond of. You'd think I'd be used to it by now, but actually the more I get, the worse I am! In the beginning, it never bothered me. I've become so accustomed to my doctor doing it now, that I fret if I don't know who's doing it and whether they are any good!  Plus I like that he 'springs' it on me, so I don't have time to worry.  It's been said more than once that I have 'no veins' so then they have to stick me more than once and that's the part I dislike. This time I was going to the phlebotomy department with a "random" but she totally put me at ease.  She said before she could take blood, she had to talk about my wonderful shoes (the "take your mind off it" trick, my childhood doctor used to deploy). At 5 or 35, talking about mermaids and shoes is very much the way to calm me! I'm making it sound like I totally freak out, I don't (outwardly), it's just not something I look forward to...but then would anyone? Anyway, she was very nice and pulled the tourniquet so tight that she got a vein right away and said that's the reason I've had so much trouble before (because nurses are afraid of hurting me),  FYI that part, I don't mind, "tighten away"!
On the way home, this man (his wife taught me to swim when I was little, but I don't know him and didn't know that he knew me) stopped us and said, "I knew it was you right away, just had to look at the shoes and wheelchair and thought, there's the colour lady". I love that random, grown men, recognise me by my shoes!  I also think it's nice to be known as 'colourful'.  Seeing as my interactions with the outside world are few and far between, it's always pleasant when people go out of their way with kind comments when I do get out.  Anyway, my shoes, you've already seen this print on a couple of others pairs, which I was CRAZY about, these courts were harder to track down.  I bought a size up, because I find I'm between sizes in IF (better to be too big than too small I thought), but actually they gape.  My usual size had sold out by then, so I just kept them. It actually looks worse in photos than in real life and they aren't so big they are falling off my feet.  I'd stick to your usual size though if you can find them anywhere (I just linked to the platform version above which is still in stock).  The skirt was an ASOS sale buy (the photos below are deceiving, it's not ankle length, more like below the knee); that big bow and full 50's shape drew me in and the t-shirt is an old H! by Henry Holland one you've seen before.  I got the cardi from my Mum, I'd always liked it and she's lost weight, so it's too big on her, score for me!  It's got lace and beading down the front, very pretty.  I would've preferred a lighter one for this outfit, but I was rushing and it was top of the pile.  I'm honestly forgetting what clothes I own, I think I've been dressed maybe 10 times in 18 months, it's weird.  As always, I'll pop some extra photos up on my Facebook and Tumblr and Instagram, now that I have it!  What do you think of this look?  See you next week x

  1. Still love that tee and the shoes are fabulous, I've seen the print on a pair with kind of shell wedge heels, which I loved.

  2. Oh, sorry for the bloods tests... I hope they can finish soon, but it seems they will go on, as far as I understood... so I hope you endure it well, it seems you are doing so, being strong. Also nice that the couple recognized you by the shoes! I am also known as colorful, but somehow I am in a "black" phase now! I loooved these shoes, I would love to have them now, they are amazing! I loved your skirt too, the outfit is perfect!

    1. I can get like that, I still wear a lot of black and have gone through 'black phases' where it's all I wear! It makes it nicer when people then think I'm colourful I reckon!

  3. I tried on these shoes in my local IF store but I found them to be too big and they didn't have the smaller size so I didn't buy them, I do love them on you though :))

    1. I really don't fit IF very well, none of my pairs are a decent fit on me.
