Day 1088 - Shoesday Tuesday

Shoes: Irregular Choice Gracious Dreamer

Hello, I have my second pair of Cinderella shoes for you today and quite a lot to discuss. So before I start, I have to say these are not my preferred choice of colour, I only bought these when my silver 5's turned up and were too big for me, but I figured I might as well photograph them for you. The silver had since sold out and so instead I bought the size down in the gold, just to see if they'd fit and if so, I'd have to keep searching for the silver in the size down. Let it be said, this is the first time I've ever worn size 4 in Irregular Choice (and I can only think of one other pair of shoes in my adult life from any brand, that were a 4) so this is unheard of for me really. The 5's are massive all over. I can almost get my whole finger down the back at the heel and my Mum claims her entire hand can fit in the front! The vamp is low cut and scalloped, which kind of adds to the gaping to be honest. The shoe is also very hard and covered in glitter, so not the most pliable (?) or fluid with your foot (almost works against my foot shape), so there is considerable gaping all around the shoe.
Somehow they aren't slipping off my heel when I walk, I'm not sure why, given the sizing issues, though obviously I haven't walked outside or on a hard surface as I don't know if I'm keeping them. So I took the plunge and ordered the 4, like I say out of curiosity more than anything and look, I can get my feet in them! My toes are scrunching a little when I try them on, but it's minimal and I can straighten them out easily (in other shoes, sometimes you just can't ever get comfortable). I have enough length and you might see there is a little gaping at the sides, but nothing unsightly. They do sit more flush with my foot than the bigger size.  The only problem is, they kill my little toe on my left foot. The right is fine, but it cuts across it, as if it's cutting off the blood circulation just to my little toe when I stand. So now I'm in a bit of a predicament because I'm not sure if I can stretch the 4's enough to be comfortable (not even sure if that will solve it) or stick with the too big size 5's.

Colour wise I definitely prefer the silver, so this pair would have to be returned regardless of my decision (and so I can't try out any stretching). As I've said, it's very unusual for me to fit the smaller size and as you know last week, I spoke about ordering the size up in Faith In Dreams (and likely keeping those) so it's not a running theme throughout all the styles in this collection. All Mad Here and Flowers Can't Talk from the first Alice collection are the only other styles I've been curious about sizing down on. I'm pretty sure I could've done it in the boots, but never tried.  The gold are pretty, a deep antique bronze with one of the bows at the back in copper, as is the satin ribbon holding the bows together. The heel is rose gold, so is the trim around the court. Colour-wise, they are unlike anything I already have (and I have several glitter courts), but my heart still longs for the silver. What I haven't mentioned yet is, they light up!

Yes indeedy, there are lights dotted around the outer side of the shoe and also on the bow. I find the bows are more sensitive and liable to flash more often than the shoe. One shoe in particular (in both the gold and silver) really struggles to light up and I'm having to stomp. Sometimes you just knock them together (not when worn) and they'll go off and other times you really have to try hard. Perhaps it would be different outdoors, but again it's not something I can test out on shoes I'm not keeping (if you ever wondered, I am always careful to stand in one spot for Shoesday photos and not walk at all when wearing shoes I may return so I don't damage the soles). So I couldn't photograph them worn with the flashing lights as I'd have to walk around, but I managed to get one shot below of them lit up and you can see this video on Instagram (of the silver) in the dark, which better reveals how dazzling they are! I was also laughing when I went to edit these photos and noticed what looked like teeth marks in my foot. Then I remembered I took these photos last week after wearing Faith In Dreams and the little scalloped edge to the hearts had left indentations in my foot. It really looked like a bite, but I've edited that out! So what do you think of these? Have you tried any of the 3 colours these came in, did you find the sizing generous too?

Wearing: Unicorn pyjama bottoms.
Fit: 3 3/4" heel. Very generous all over, but see above for more detailed information.
Comfort: See above. wearing cinderella irregular choice gracious dreamer wearing irregular choice gracious dreamer cinderella wearing cinderella gracious dreamer irregular choicewearing irregular choice gracious dreamer bowswearing irregular choice gracious dreamer gold glitterwearing gracious dreamer irregular choicegracious dreamer irregular choiceirregular choice gracious dreamer light up shoes

  2. I think I may be the only person who bought these in my "usual" size & didn't have an issue with the fit (I'm so glad!). That being said, IC did something weird with their sizing not long ago. My usual 40 (size 7) became a 6.5 & way too small. They class the 41 as 7.5 now, which fits the same as the old 40. The 41's are definitely smaller than my old Russian doll IC shoes (I bought them in a size 41 several years ago & they're too big ).

I also have the same issue about the lights! I actually thought they were broken at first. Disappointing that when they run out there's no way to replace the battery...

Hope you get the silver in your size!! They're so beautiful. Love reading your reviews as well (& am super jealous of your collection :o)

    1. It's so strange and unusual for me to need them smaller. I usually have to size up. I thought the same thing re the lights. One bow was flashing through the hole in the box when they arrived, but I struggle to get both shoes going at once. I was keen to see if the gold were better, but again, one shoe seemed more willing to flash. I've since got the silver in a 4 and the lights seem a little more consistent.
